The Negative Effects of No Carb Diets

I know that you might have decided to try one of those “great” no carb diets. If that is the case, then you might want to rethink your decision. Diets extremely low in carbohydrates can cause many health problems, three of which this article is going to focus on.
No serious researcher would deny the negative effect no carb diets have on cholesterol levels. And if you make the mistake of not consuming adequate amounts of carbs, then you have no choice but to obtain your required daily allotment of calories from fat. And eating more dietary fat will definitely raise your odds of ratcheting up your cholesterol levels. Even worse, there is a very close relationship between high cholesterol levels and heart disease. No carb diets also promote osteoporosis. It is a fact that great amounts of protein in the body promote the excretion of calcium. Calcium is a mineral which is necessary to maintain bone density. Without sufficient quantities of calcium, we cannot maintain strong and healthy bones, and without strong and healthy bones we are more likely to fracture our bones. This is especially a problem in areas such as the hips, because the fractures can be devastating. So in order to preserve the integrity of your bones, it is not recommended that you start a no carb diet.
If you would like to increase your chances of getting kidney damage, then no carb diets are a great approach. No one can deny that regularly ingesting great amounts of protein increases the risk of kidney damage. There’s almost nothing quite as awful as kidney disease, so put the beef back where you found it, and lower your daily dose of protein if it’s too high. You should be much more concerned about the total number of calories that you are ingesting a day than the number of grams of carbs you are ingesting. Calories are what counts when it comes to weight gain and weight loss.
In addition to those three main reasons, saturated fat, which is commonly consumed by people on no carb diets, has very negative effects on arteries. Arteries are necessary for transferring blood throughout the body, and clogged arteries can cause several health problems, like the aforementioned heart disease. But besides heart disease, clogged arteries can cause other issues like sexual dysfunction. This can be particularly frustrating for men later on in life, and is somewhat preventable if saturated fat is kept to a minimum in the diet.
So be smart and don’t mess around with no carb diets. They’re not worth trying because of the numerous health risks they are associated with.
