It is no surprise that Americans like to eat. Whether it is high-end restaurants or fast food, Americans are always eating. This article discusses the overall best food cities in the United States. No, we are not taking fast-food into account.
New York – Regardless of the type of food you want, it can be had, pretty much at any hour, in New York. Some of the best restaurants in New York include Le Bernardin, Daniel, Per Se and Masa. The city is home to five three star Michelin restaurants, the most of any American city.
When it comes to uniqueness and true American style of cooking, I think that New Orleans takes the cake. It is a truly unique style of cooking, taking southern elements and combining them with French influence. Standout restaurants include Commander’s Palace and Emeril’s.
I hate to admit it, but Vegas has some of the best restaurants in the country. I guess this makes sense as so many people make money out there and don’t know how to spend it fast enough. How about going to a top establishment like Aureole and doing the 9 course chefs tasting with wine pairing?
San Francisco is crawling up on New York’s trail. I think in the next few years, it will overtake New York as the best food city in America. Standouts include Cyrus, Manresa, and of course, Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry.
Chicago – Chicago may be the only American city that people are heading to solely for a restaurant. Alinea is known as one of the best restaurants in the world and through use of molecular gastronomy, is changing the food game forever.
Of course, there is Los Angeles. LA has some great restaurants, but its true strength lies in its sushi. Urasawa is known to have the best fish in the country and chances are the average sushi joint here would be the best in your town.
So this is the list. Notables go to Dallas, Washington and Philadelphia. Sorry Miami, not yet
