Having A Hard Time Loosing Belly Fat?
August 24, 2010
Most people have noticed how difficult it can be to lose belly fat. There are reasons for this, and this article will explore some of them. Mainly, I’m going to focus on how our lifestyles clash with the natural biology of the body, and how this effects us.
So the body is designed to hold onto any energy it can get. This energy is stored as fat in the body, as a reserve for times when the food is scarce, and to prevent us from starving. The main problem is that this never happens (of course, this is a good thing).
Dieting is a method to try and re-balance this situation, by getting rid of the fat. It is, in effect, replacing the natural cycle of starvation with a man made cycle.
Unfortunately, your body is designed to fight this every step of the way. It would rather slow down than lose its precious energy reserve – after all, that’s its protection against death. So it will even go so far as to eliminate muscle mass to reduce the energy demand.
There are some diets that are designed to keep the metabolism high while reducing calories, and these are more effective because they allow you to get rid of the stored energy (fat). Some of them use stimulants, which are dangerous at the best of times, but can be very hazardous when the body is low on energy.
A much better alternative is calorie switching. This uses natural mechanisms in the body to keep the energy consumption high – and it does it by switching the quantity and type of food that you eat at each meal. As a result, the body is tricked into thinking that it is eating more than it is, and it will increase its metabolism to cope with the extra energy.
When following this plan, you may find that it is difficult to keep track of all the different changes you will need to make. Luckily, there is an online service that has been released that makes it very easy to keep track of.
You can read more about this at the loose belly fat blog. Read it and you’ll see why it is so well named.
